Ellie's First Birthday

Pretty In Pink

This was a fun cake to make. It's white cake with a delicious cookies and cream filling! It was iced with Italian Buttercream, my favorite and covered with Wilton Fondant. Elaina made her first cake, the smash cake to go along with the family.

Lego Time
Christopher's 9th Birthday
This was a fun cake to make. The giant legos were made out of rice krispie treats and covered in marshmellow fondant. The cake was white with vanilla frosting.

A Pop'n Good Time
Hunter's 10th Birthday

This cake was a ton of fun to make and all the kids got in on the action. It's a four layer double fudge cake with fudge icing. It's wrapped in white fondant with red fruit leather stripes. The popcorn is coated in melted marshmellows tinted yellow. This cake was a hit! After stuffing ourselves with cake and popcorn we headed out to the movies, well we watched a movie in the living room.

The Incredible Melting Cupcake
Elaina's 8th Birthday

Elaina and I wanted to try out my new large cupcake pan. It's a white cake with mint chocolate chip ice cream in the center. YUM!! The cupcake wrapped is a swirly purple pink fondant which you can't see very well in the photo. The only thing that went wrong was the pink frosting. Instead of being nice and fluffy it was melting. It just kept sliding right off the top. I used store bought icing, won't make that mistake again, homemade buttercream from now on!

Golden Birthday
Alix's 12th Birthday

This year was Alix's golden b-day so her cake had to have touches of gold on it. It was a 6 layer chocolate and vanilla cake with chocolate mousse filling. It was covered in Wilton fondant (first time I've used store bought fondant) and painted with gold pearl dust and edible gold confetti. Christopher and Elaina really wanted to join in on the action so they rolled all the little balls, cut out the little hearts and helped with the painting. Usually I like to work on the cakes all by myself but it was actually a little fun having the kids join in.

Happy Caterpillar
Lily's 2nd Birthday

Lily was visiting over her birthday so I couldn't resist making a cake for her. I got to experiment using my new Wilton Ball cake pan. The cake turned out really good but we learned a valuable lesson....the cake pans can tip very easily and spill the batter into the oven if you aren't careful. It was Elaina's idea to take the extra cake and crumble it to look like dirt. It is so fun to see the kids getting creative and wanting to create little edible works of art. This was a simple chocolate cake with whipped frosting with gum drops as decorations.

Just Monkeying Around

Jacen's 2nd Birthday

This was my first attempt at an all buttercream frosted cake. This was alot of fun to make and I can't wait to try the frozen transfer again. I was totally bummed with my frosting because something went horribly wrong.....the frosting started melting or dissolving. It was a little grainy but otherwise tasted wonderful!

This was a last minute take on Cookie Monster...again lots of blue frosting for a little boy to play with.
